Hair Dryer

Delaney right after I turned on the hair dryer cd: in a trance

Delaney just 2 minutes after I turned on the cd: passed out.

My little glow worm

My darling daughter has chosen the sound of a hair dryer as her favorite white noise. My baby girl is very alert and often fights off sleep because she doesn't want to miss out on anything that is going on. When she gets overtired.. or fussy and nothing else seems to calm her (not even food) it is the hair dryer that gets her calmed down.... and even puts her right to sleep. I read about white noise and just tried the hair dryer one day and boom... she was zoned out! Well after about a week of running my hair dryer and deciding I might blow out the motor.. I found The Happiest Baby on the Block cd (and book) I ordered the cd which has a 17 min soundtrack of a hair dryer and some other white noises as well. I read the book cover to cover and learned some other interesting ways to calm her down, but it is still the hair dryer sound that works best. She can be screaming at the top of her lungs and turn on the cd and she stops in her tracks! The only time this doesn't work is if she is hungry. Needless to say I burned the cd and made a copy for the car and ripped it to my laptop as well. At night Delaney has to be swaddled.. to sleep well and swaddling also calms her down during the day... but she looks like a little glow worm! Remember those?

Dawn, I wish I would have thought to record the hair dryer, Nolan loved it too! It's great you have something you know will calm her! :)
Brian will be there until at least January. I know it would mean SO much to him if your class did something like that, thank you!!!!
Message or email me if you need more info about his address or what not!

That's hilarious! Maybe I need to start bringing my hair dryer to the church nursery. By about 10:00, when they're ALL screaming, I'd be willing to try anything!

I think this early love of the blowdryer means she's going to be a total girly-girl!
