Dad's Doing Well
Dad's surgery went well yesterday and he is in recovery at the hospital for a few more days. Alex and I went to see him this morning and take him a special treat. See....Today is Alex's 12th Birthday and every year on Alex's birthday Dad takes him to McDonalds for hotcakes and sausage... this tradition has been going on since Alex could first eat solid food on his first birthday! So yesterday Alex asked me if we could take to hotcakes and sausage to Dad. I found that very sweet so even though I knew Dad may not be up for eating McDonalds.. we just had to take him some! I think this has all been pretty hard on Alex.. since he knows what's going on but isn't quite old enough to completely understand... and even for me it's hard to see your big strong daddy in a hospital bed hooked up to all those wires and tubes. We know Dad has a long recovery ahead and it's not going to be easy... but the doctors are pretty sure they got it all out and dad should be cancer free! The physical therapist said they will try some walking this afternoon! Seems so soon... but they know best right? Well my aunts are coming over to help me throw a little party for Alex.. his friends are coming over to swim... eat wings and cake... so lets hope the storms stay away! Thanks again for all your prayers for my Dad.. they have all been answered!

Prayers still being said for your daddy that he has a quick recovery!!
It's so hard to see the vulnerable, isn't it? When my grandpa passed last year, I think that was the hardest part...seeing my dad cry. I think he's cried maybe 2-3 times in front of us in my whole life. It just broke my heart.
Very sweet of Alex to think of your dad with the breakfast tradition :) I can't believe he's 12 though!!
