Dad's Doing Well
Dad's surgery went well yesterday and he is in recovery at the hospital for a few more days. Alex and I went to see him this morning and take him a special treat. See....Today is Alex's 12th Birthday and every year on Alex's birthday Dad takes him to McDonalds for hotcakes and sausage... this tradition has been going on since Alex could first eat solid food on his first birthday! So yesterday Alex asked me if we could take to hotcakes and sausage to Dad. I found that very sweet so even though I knew Dad may not be up for eating McDonalds.. we just had to take him some! I think this has all been pretty hard on Alex.. since he knows what's going on but isn't quite old enough to completely understand... and even for me it's hard to see your big strong daddy in a hospital bed hooked up to all those wires and tubes. We know Dad has a long recovery ahead and it's not going to be easy... but the doctors are pretty sure they got it all out and dad should be cancer free! The physical therapist said they will try some walking this afternoon! Seems so soon... but they know best right? Well my aunts are coming over to help me throw a little party for Alex.. his friends are coming over to swim... eat wings and cake... so lets hope the storms stay away! Thanks again for all your prayers for my Dad.. they have all been answered!

Daddy Update- Change of Plans
My dad had been recovering well from the kidney surgery... however the pain in his hip has just gotten worse so he went to the doctor yesterday and they are very worried about his hip breaking and the tumor spreading as a result of the break. Instead of doing radiation as perviously planned they are doing a total hip replacement surgery Wednesday. This will be a little different from a routin hip replacement as they have to take out the top of the femur... because that is where the tumor is. It will be a long three month recovery but at least the tumor will be out. I want my daddy to be better asap... I don't understand why good people have to endure such painful and scary obstacles! I'm nervous for the surgery cause quite frankly hospitals and doctors scare me... but I am praying for the best. I appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers!

So Far ... So Good
Dad had surgery Thursday morning and it went very well. They were able to remove his left kidney and didn't find that it had spread to any other places. They will do some lab tests before they know for sure what will happen next. He has to recover from this surgery before they move on to the tumor in his hip. We got to visit him for a short time today and he seemed to be doing well but still very sleepy from all the medication. I wanted to thank everyone for all the prayers... they have been answered! This is not over.. but it is going in the right direction so far!

Alex at Camp and Branson

Alex is away at Kamp Kanakuk K-7 for the week. It is down on Table Rock Lake and it is a Christian Sports Camp. He went last year to K-Klassic and loved it... so this year he is trying K-7 which is right by where we camp every summer. (We won't be going this summer though) I wanted to see the camp so badly so mom invited me to go with her to take him. Well it ended up being my Granny, my Aunts- Juanita, Jeannie and Nancy Mom and me. We dropped Alex off.. checked out the camp.. checked into a hotel on Brason Landing and got to shopping! The first picture is Alex with his counselors.. the second one is him getting introduced and the third is Alex trying to make his bunk bed. I wanted a pic of him in front of the Tee Pee he would be sleeping in... but he was off and running.. so oh well:( The last picture is the only thing I bought on our shopping spree. We hit Branson Landing, Old Town Branson (Flea Markets and Antique Stores) and Tangier OUTLET Mall. I couldn't really shop for myself... cause I can't really try things on.. being 8 months prego and all.... but I did find this adorable outfit for Delaney. And yes.. even infants need cute jeans right? I couldn't pass it up... and I had to share her first "big girl" outfit. She will be one styling little girl!
