Snow Friends

We spent some more time out playing in the snow. Delaney wasn't so sure about our little snowman at first but after warming up she decided she loved him! We also got to play outside with our neighbor friends! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Snow Day Number 2!

Shoveling snow... into a bucket and out again!
Mommy's Snow Angel and Delaney's Snow Angel

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
"Yay!... more?"

We played outside in the morning and then waited anxiously for Jer to come home so he could go sledding with us! This morning we shoveled part of the driveway... well we meaning I did... and Delaney shoveled snow in and out of her little blue bucket! This seriously entertained her for at least 2o minutes. We also made some snow angels.... she thought me moving her legs back and forth was hilarious and she was laughing so loudly it made me laugh too! It was really hard for her to walk in the snow since it was so deep and she is so little! After lunch, a nap and a snack she was ready for more! Delaney was so excited to go sledding again when Jer got home! Her friend from across the street Ajdin came to sled too but by then I had put the camera away and joined in on the sledding fun! I think she could sled ride all night and never tire of it! That's my girl! I don't care for cold or snow... but sledding is something you just have to love... at least once a year!

Snow Much Fun!

Looking out the window at the snow!Little Snowbaby!
Sledding with Alex! First time by herself!
Sorry it gets fuzzy at the end I had to stop us from running into the fence!

At the end you see her sign and say "more"

Delaney was so excited to see the snow outside this morning. She looked out the window and said "Woah!" We packed up our snow gear and headed over to see Alex. I was worried about trying to take her sledding by myself and Alex was great help! Delaney LOVES her uncle Alex and was so excited to go sledding with him. When Alex left to go sledding with his friend she stood and sobbed "Alex, bye bye... Alex bye bye" forever! Luckily a few more trips down the hill with me got her mind of missing Alex and then I pulled her around on the sled! We came home and took a nap then bundled back up to sled in our backyard. We have a great hill and Delaney LOVED going backwards while I rode with her and video taped! Everytime we got to the bottom she'd put those little mittened hands together to sign and say "more"! It was hard for her to walk in the snow to begin with, but ip the hill was impossible... so mommy got quite a workout carrying her back up the hill everytime! Looks like we'll get to play again tomrorow!

Swimming!

Running through the water- I was trying to slow her down!
Off she went!
She loved the fountain.
Playing on the platform.
Teasing me about going down the slide!
Sunday we took Delaney to a local rec center to go swimming. It had been awhile since I had taken her and I was worried she was going to develop a fear of the water. The swim coach in me says she should be going at least once a week... but I am doing the best I can! She held on tight the first few minutes but eventually got pretty brave! Brave enough that she crawled right up to the top of the little kid platform and slide and went down the slide! However by the time we got the camera out I told her "one more time" so she climbed up and refused to come down! You can see her playing up at the top! She loved the places where the water shoots out in fountains! It was funny watching her "learn" to walk in the shallow water! She quickly went from walking to running. She fell a few times and I'd pluck her back up and she'd smile and keep on going. I'm looking forward to summer when we can go swimming everyday! Please disregard the pic with me in it.. Jer didn't keep me out like I asked!

Sesame Street Live

Delaney poses with Elmo!
Elmo and Abby Cadabby
ELMO!
Delaney signing "more" after a song was over!
Delaney and Maya hugging!
Playing with streamers that shot out at the end of the show!
Delaney sharing her Elmo light up thing with Gavin before he got his own!
"Yeah for Elmo!"
"I love Elmo"

Delaney finally got her last Christmas present today! We took her to see Sesame Street Live.
She LOVED the music and seeing the characters! She danced, or shook her foot for more than half the show! She would point at the stage and say "ELMO!" or "ABBY" or "Big Bird" when she would see them come on stage! She was so interested in the show it was great! We saw our good friends Devon, Gary, Gavin and Maya there too. Delaney LOVES Maya and Gavin so she was very excited to see them as well! We got to sit near them for the second half and the kids all had a good time dancing and playing with their light up Elmo things. The show was actually pretty cute! Delaney had a great time! When we were leaving we asked if she liked the Elmo show and she responded with a very enthusiastic "YEAH!" All that dancing and shaking must have worn her out because she took a LONG nap this afternoon! She's begging me to look at these pictures now on the computer so better get going!

Our Little Artist!

Painting at the PAT event!
Drawing on the chalk wall!

Delaney has been really into "art" recently. On our day off Monday we spent the morning painting! It's fun that she is old enough now and doesn't try to eat the paint any longer! We hung the pictures up in her playroom and she loves pointing at them and saying pretty! We were excited to find out that the Parents as Teachers program we participate it was sponsoring an "Is it art yet?" event! Of course we took Delaney! She had a blast! I'm looking forward to more messy art projects at home now! You can see some of Delaney's artword on the sidebar!

Fun with Friends!

Hannah talking to Delaney
Hannah and Delaney playing together.
Caden, Delaney and Hannah
Caden and Delaney
Sunday night we had a great time visiting with our friends Elizabeth and Wes and their sweet kiddos Caden and Hannah. It's funny because right now Delaney wants to follow Caden around and play with him. Bless little Caden's heart because he is so good to Delaney and is very patient and kind to her! However... Delaney and Hannah will be the same grade in school! Delaney will play with Hannah here and there but she mostly enjoys Caden right now. I am sure as soon as Hannah starts walking and talking she'll be all about Hannah! And... poor Caden because these two girls will probably drive him crazy one of these days! For now it's realy cute to watch them play together... all of them!

Phone, Love you, Mine!

I got some quick cute videos of Delaney tonight so I thought I'd share. These are some of her favorite things to do and say lately. The first one is her saying her new favorite phrase "Mine!" I told you she was 100% toddler! The second one is her saying some words - Mama, Dada, Elmo, Hot Dog and "LOVE YOU" unfortunately she hiccups in the middle of it...but it is the sweetest sound in thr world right now! She even says it back to us when we say it to her! So precious! The last video is Delaney talking on the phone to her Grandma. She LOVES talking on the phone- she props that phone between her ear and shoulder and she just jabbers away... sometimes she takes it down to push buttons, like she sees us doing I guesss! The "toddler" in her comes out when you take the phone away and she isn't ready to say goodbye. Luckily for this conversation she stays nice and sweet! Enjoy!

17 Months

Sweet!
Silly!
Sassy!

Delaney and Abby have been insperable lately!
She even calls to Abby in the middle of the night!

Our new angle on the "bear" pictures from the first year.
All ready for Florida! (too bad it's freezing cold here)
Putting on her shoes... she loves to play with her shoes!
She is also into putting on hats.... any kind of hat.. she loves them!

Dear Delaney Grace-

Last Sunday you turned 17 months old! Time just continues to fly by as we watch you grow and learn. You know so much these days! Your vocabulary is amazing though you still often babble with intonation like you are saying something when I can only make out a word or two. However you can usually tell us what you need by using a word or sign language and it is so helpful for all of us! You love all your new toys from Christmas and no matter what you are playing you can play by yourself for quite some time! It's fun just to watch you talking and feeding your babies and concentrating as you build with blocks, put together a puzzle or read a book. You still love to read books and can sit and read them forever, pointing out things you know and shouting the words or babbling away as you turn the pages!
You love to eat fruit and meat.. but your not such a big fan of the vegetable group. I really thought this came later in toddlerhood! You'll eat green beans, corn and potatoes but forget carrots and peas! I have been trying to sneak them into your food and I have been sucessful with quesadillas and soup! We can't even ask you if you want a snack... unless we mean fruit snacks.. because you would live on them if we'd let you! You call them "nacks" and get so excited upon seeing the box or bag (or hearing the word snack).
You love to talk on the phone.. to your Grandma and Grandpa, Mimi and General, your aunts and uncles or anyone you accidentaly dial! If you get a phone call from Delaney... thanks in advance for you understanding and patience. You love to walk around with the phone resting between your ear and your shoulder! In your kitchen you call your friends... it's so cute!
It's been an exciting month.... and in just a few weeks you will be a year and a half old! What a big girl you are getting to be! I'm going to have to stop calling you my baby!
We love you!
Love, Mommy and Daddy

Delaney trying to make the noisemaker work!

We had a great New Years Eve celebration at home this year. We're happy some of our friends could share in the festivities. Delaney enjoyed having Ajdin to play with and they had a great time with the noisemakers, glasses and hats! Delaney was a party animal staying up until Midnight to celebrate! She danced and had a great time! We hope that 2009 brings to your family health, happiness and all you dreams come true! Happy New Year!
